Don’t Look Back in Anger - Oasis
sometimes i listen to oasis songs and get legitimately choked up, and then i feel pretty dumb because lol these songs brought to you by the guys who thought they were the new beatles/wanted to be the beatles/thought spinal tap was a real band, and then got into an angry fist fight when they learned about “satire.”
but like, i was maybe 9 when (what’s the story?) morning glory came out and somehow their songs came to really emblematize this specific kind of 90s pathos/nostalgia for me. which is absurd of course, because at 9 i hadn’t actually experienced the kind of pathos i ascribed to their songs, and i had all of 6 years of memory to be nostalgic for. but what i felt, and maybe what i still feel listening to their music, is not real emotion directly, but rather the emotion inspired by the idea of real (aspirational) emotions that a 9-year-old imagines they will experience in the future.
tl;dr the chorus is catchy
